ONE IN 100

In every 100 children, one is medically complex. Can you see them?

Safehaven is committed to telling the stories of the 1% through "One in 100," our unique storybook, and "Where Hope Lives," our brand-new board game.

One in 100 is a one of a kind seek-and-find storybook created to raise awareness about the number of children impacted by medical complexities, the challenges they face, and the importance of compassionate community care in helping them live fulfilling lives. The book’s visual journey highlights that although only one in 100 children are medically complex, the 1% must not be forgotten. Every child deserves a space where they can thrive.

Building on this mission, Where Hope Lives helps parents have meaningful conversations with their kids about disability, difference, and inclusion through a fun, engaging game. Where Hope Lives invites players on a journey toward Safehaven, collecting Safe Space and Wild cards while navigating real-world obstacles reflected through Roadblocks.

Along the way, players build a character who becomes more visible throughout the game — a powerful reminder that every child deserves to be seen. Seek-and-find challenges, trivia, ramps, and visibility spaces all work together to bring the lived experiences of medically complex kids into focus. Within each game, parents will find A Guide to Inclusivity: Having Tough Conversations with your Kids About Medical Complexities, a guide to prompt and support parents through conversations with their kids about their medically complex peers.

Safehaven provides that space for medically complex children so they can live bright, fulfilling lives alongside their peers.
